Get There and Get Moving.

Dear Friends,
My team and I are coming to the end of our first week in Africa. This past week we have been in Nairobi, Kenya staying at the Life In Abundance headquarters. We have felt very welcome by all staff and members of LIA. The LIA family has been more than hospitable during our initial transition into the African culture. We have felt very blessed to call this our home for our first six days in Africa.
Prior to traveling to Kenya, we prepared our hearts and minds in training and retreat in Louisville, Kentucky. Here is where the Lord very quickly made his presence known in the dynamic of our team and spirit of our upcoming journey. At the retreat we received a devotion book called “My Utmost For His Highest” by Oswald Chambers. Four of the first five devotions were titled either “Getting There” or “Get Moving”. Immediately, I felt God’s affirmation in my decision to accept this internship. A verse shared June 11 in one of the two devotions titled “Getting There” was “Come to Me.” Matthew 11:28. God could not have been more clear, but just in case I missed it, God shed some more light on his plan for me. On June 13, the verse in the other devotion titled “Getting There” read “Come, follow Me.” Luke 18:22. I’m thankful for a God who knows us better than we know ourselves. He knew the anticipation and anxiety of the impending journey that was heavy on my heart and simply relieved me of those fears and just said “Come to Me”. Now that I’m here, God has once again remained faithful in my transition and reminded me why he had a plan to bring me to Africa. The next two devotions were titled “Get Moving”. On June 14, the verse read “Abide in Me.” John 15:4, and on June 15 the verse read “Also...add to your faith.” 2 Peter 1:5. I felt God calling me to bring Him with me in whatever I do and wherever I go and to take time to add to my faith growing more intimate with him. I am to “Get Moving” and “Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.” Psalms 96:3.
This first week we have been participating in training sessions to learn more about the LIA model. When we were not training, we had the opportunity to visit two of the vulnerable communities here in Kenya.
I have shared a few pictures so that you can see the fruit of God’s work through your support. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to serve and to love others like Jesus does.

Please pray for the families of these vulnerable communities and for our team as we travel to our next Kenyan community tomorrow morning.

God is good; All the time.
All the time; God is good.

God bless you all and thank you for partnering with me in this process.
