Hey all! Our team is at the halfway mark of our adventure through Africa! It’s been challenging and exciting couple of weeks as we have traveled throughout Kenya. We spent a week in Kisumu fellowshipping with the pastors and encouraging the community. There were so many testimonies from this close knit group that lead me into a deeper relationship with Christ. From the vulnerable kids in running club to the home visits of community leaders, this week was filled with intentional and Godly relationships. What really stood out to me was how all the churches in this area supported one another to continue Christ’s work. God has pointed out that we are all apart of the same Body of Christ and that we all have the same mission and purpose.
After a busy week of work in the peri-urban culture, our team got a bit of a break as we traveled to Maasai Mara for a safari! It was a refreshing day to just be in awe of Gods creation as we bounced down the endless dirt roads around the park. There we were introduced to the Maasai culture which allowed us to smoothly transition to Narok, a rural area rich with Maasai traditions. Although this was one of the more challenging communities we have been in, it’s been one of the most fruitful in my walk with Christ. Our team was off the grid from internet, which called for more intentional team bonding through worship nights and encouraging conversations. Through this God has reminded me of the friend that I have in Him. Another highlight was visiting local school because the Lord has been instilling on my heart this passion to reach and encourage vulnerable children. I’m patiently seeking the Lord in what that looks like as I return to the States but before then God has another story to write.
Our team heads out to Ethiopia tomorrow for the remainder of our trip. Please be praying for safe travels and smooth transitions as we enter a different culture. Continue to lift up our team, that we would have open eyes and hearts for what God is teaching us. One verse that has come up a lot our trip is 1 Corinthians 14:58, “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” So for us all to be reminded that our work is not in vain but our work is an opportunity to give the glory to Christ. I cannot thank you enough for your prayers and your support on this journey. I am truly growing deeper in Christ and understanding more about who He has made me to be in the process.
